Together, We Grow our Community
What's important to you is important to us, and we take great pleasure in giving back to our community. It's not just about providing excellent service when you need it. It's about keeping Northern Michigan a great place to raise a family, build a business, enjoy retirement...or just get away for the weekend.
Not only do we invest heavily in the community, but staff members from our 13 branches donate their time and energy as well. In the past three years alone, Northland employees have donated over 4,300 hours to community projects. That adds up to almost 6 MONTHS!
Northland. Growing our community one seed at a time.
Northland and Snowmobile Safety!
Northland employee Kristen Hanson and volunteers from the AuSable Valley Trail Riders Association recently held a Snowmobile Safety Class at the Robert J. Parks Library.
The class covered state mandated course materials needed for youth riders from 12 to 16 years of age. Once passed, the course enables young riders to obtain the State Snowmobile Safety Certificate, which is needed to legally ride the snowmobile trails and roads. Twelve youths attended and passed the state test. Four adults also attended the class in order to learn the rules and regulations. All twelve students received their Snowmobile Safety Certificates and received $5.00 coupons to open Northland youth accounts. The class was free to all that attended, compliments of Northland Area Federal Credit Union.

Head Start Preschool visit
Theresa Snider and Pamela Seres tellers from our West Branch location visited the West Branch Head Start classroom on December 7, 2011. They gave a 30 minute presentation to two groups of children, which included reading a book about places to keep your money and a worksheet about different things you can find at a credit union.

Skidway Witches Storm the Streets
This Halloween our Skidway branch participated in the Skidway Halloween Parade. Using the theme "Always something new and exciting brewing at Northland", staffers dress up as witches storming the streets of Skidway! They had a wonderful time handing out candy and spreading the Halloween spirit!
We're so proud of our staff members for all of the time and dedication they commit to our communities!

Santa's Little Helpers
Our Houghton Lake branch participated in Santa's Workshop held by Houghton Lake's Merchant's Club. Local businesses donated their time and creativity to make it as fun as possible. There were also balloon animals, face painting and tons of Christmas crafts for the kids to make. This workshop is a simple way for children to get a chance to take a picture and have some fun with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
