Northland Area Federal Credit union is seeking a Vice President of Finance/CFO to support the credit union in achieving its mission, strategic objectives and to lead the activities of the Accounting team. This is a key position on the Executive Management team that reports directly to the President/CEO.  The VP Finance/CFO is responsible to:

  • Evaluate the credit union’s operations to ascertain financial performance, liquidity position, cash flow, budget performance, and similar financial activities

  • Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff maintaining effective employee relations

  • Perform in-depth analysis of trend and profitability analysis, product pricing, pricing strategy, budgeting, forecasting, investment portfolio management, cash management, and asset liability

  • Focus on profitability and perform cost/benefit analysis when purchasing products, implementing new services, developing new products, managing branch facilities and foreclosed properties, and/or making procedural changes for all credit union functions

  • Develop financial strategies that will support current operations as well as budgeted and projected growth

  • Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the credit union’s policies and procedures

  • Oversee the financial, investment, cash, accounting, auditing, tax activities and facilities management of the credit union

  • Act as member of the Asset Liability Committee

  • Maintain compliance with rules and regulations impacting financial accounting, as well as, completing call reports and other regulatory reporting on a timely and accurate basis

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (will consider education combined with equivalent work experience)

Additional Desired Attributes:

CPA Certification is a plus. Northland would like to find a candidate provien to be leader with a strong initiative and motivation to build and maintain a high performing service culture. Must be able to develop, understand and implement the key objectives and strategies of the Credit Union. Position requires a self-starter, with advanced problem solving, critical thinking and judgement skills. Must be organized with efficient time management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Requires a professional approach in dealing with others, as well as, a positive attitude and feedback about credit union policies and procedures. Must possess extensive knowledge of regulations impacting accounting, financial, investments and tax activities.
