National Credit Union Youth Week
Recently we celebrated National Credit Union Youth Week April 23-27th. The theme this year was being a Super Saver Hero. The purpose of this promotion was to teach youth and teens (ages0-17) the benefits of saving money. Northland youth members had the opportunity to pick a gift from a prize box placed in every branch. We also matched a $5 share savings deposit for new and current youth members. All thirteen of our branches gave the first 25 youth members who deposited $5 into their share savings account a Super Saver t-shirt.
Be a Northland Super Saver!
Parents and Grandparents, you want the best for you children, and so does Northland! Open an account that offers competitive rates. The Stash Your Cash savings program provides you and your children an easy and educational way to save for their future. Use the program to save for: higher education, that first automobile, a special gift, recreational vehicle, senior trip or vacation, sports equipment or just to plan for the future.
It’s easy!
With just $5, open a share savings account with your child (Northland recommends that children under 17 have a parent, grandparent or guardian as joint owner on the account). When the account reaches $105, place $100 in our special “Stash Your Cash” certificate and it will earn competitive rates for a term of one year. When the certificate matures, combine the money from the certificate with additional money from the share savings and create a new “Stash Your Cash” certificate. Or, if you prefer, you can open additional certificates each time the child saves the minimum $100.
This is a great tool to teach your children responsibility while giving the adult the peace of mind that their child is actively saving for their future. Open one today or on your child’s birthday and renew the gift each year.
