Job Openings: Member Service Representative III, Full Time, Alpena Headquarters

Salary:Hourly / Pay Grade D
Days:Five days a week-Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday; 40 hours per week (additional hours may be required to meet the needs of the members)
Hours:Branch is open M-W 9-5, TH-F 9-6, Sat 9-1, Sun Closed.

Duties:

About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Northland Area Federal Credit Union in living out our Service Mission, “To be our members’ most trusted financial partner,” by delivering outstanding service.  To achieve this, the MSR must identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. Provides a wide range of transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high accuracy in a friendly, courteous and prompt manner.

What You Get to Do:

  1. Deliver service to both internal and external members that are in alignment with the Credit Union's Service Promises
  2. Provide information on and promote all credit union products and services based on member needs; actively cross sell products. Meet all service and sales goals as established 

  3. Process member transactions accurately and efficiently
  4. Open new accounts and service existing accounts. Set up new account files, issue certificates handle IRA transactions, and provide members with all necessary information required for membership

  5. Conduct orientation interviews on credit union services and programs with each new credit union member

  6. Interview, process and close loan requests

  7. Assist staff or members in solving complex account problems. Research and resolve account related discrepencies and solve any account problem

  8. Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

About the Person: This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. The work is best accomplished working as an individual. The work is helpful in nature; providing support and/or service to others in an environment free from competition. Interacting with members requires a professional, formal manner where the focus is on completing the task pleasantly and correctly.

The successful candidate will have a professional approach in dealing with others, work well in a team environment, as well as, display excellent communication skills. This position requires a member-focused, service-oriented and positive attitude. Must demonstrate consistent accuracy and efficiency, as well as, strong attention to detail. Must be able to educate members on credit union products/ services and use sound judgement. Requires strict adherence to confidentiality and protecting member sensitive data. Strong personal computer skills required. This position requires basic mathematical comprehension and proficiency in 10-key entry.
 

Additionally, the ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Previous financial institution, cash handling, member service, sales or related experience is desired
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • State of Michigan Credit Insurance Producer License obtained within 12 months of acquiring position

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Typical indoor office work environment with continuous standing in a stationary position required. Must be able to also occasionally sit in a stationary position, reach, push, pull, lift/carry up to 50 pounds and move about/traverse inside the branch. Must be able to continuously communicate to others and exchange information, as well as, continuous repetitive use of hand/fingers, such as keyboard typing, counting cash, using office equipment, etc. Must be able to continuously think analytically, concentrate on tasks, and remember names and/or details. Requires frequent handling of stress and emotions; and occasional use of written communication.
