Duties:

Position will be temporarily assigned to Oscoda until the completion of the new headquarter location and then is intended to be reassigned to Alpena based on the needs of the department and as set forth by management.

PURPOSE: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Northland Area Federal Credit Union in living out our Service Mission, "To be our members’ most trusted financial partner." Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members. In support of the credit union's requirements for quality and timely information and operating efficiency, the Programmer / Systems Analyst will respond to management needs by analysis of problems or requests, design and implementation of computerized methods for reporting, automating, maintain documentation on all reports developed or modified in-house, and provide execution instructions and support for the computer operations team. The Programmer / Systems Analyst will work on special projects as assigned (e.g., Symitar EPISYS Online host software updates, new module integration and third party application interfaces) and is responsible for providing department and user training, as deemed appropriate.

2. Meets all established service goals as measured by the Internal Service Survey

3. Performs job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards and procedures.

4. Conducts and coordinates the analysis, design and implementation of computer based information systems to meet user requirements.

5. Participates in systems software development and maintenance, as required.

6. Conducts detailed analysis of defined systems specifications and develops all levels of block diagrams and flow charts.

7. Develops conversion and system implementation plans, as needed.

8. Conducts a full range of programming tasks including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation for a variety of general applications programs including data manipulation, input and output routines reflecting a variety of equipment configurations.

9. Programs logical interfaces and applies techniques for efficient program logic and data manipulation.

10. Develops operator and control instructions; maintains and updates existing programs of a non-routine nature.

11. Monitors effective hardware utilization relative to programs / application designed.

12. Reviews system logic for optimum throughput.

13. Work frequently includes program maintenance and error detection/correction of existing codes/languages and/or revisions to systems documentation.

14. Provide front line end-user support for HQ and branch locations.

15. Support the software design and installation of financial applications for new branches. Provide onsite branch support during opening and as required.

16. Design and develop processes, reports and/or sub-systems to provide information access, automation or processing efficiency in support of business objectives.

17. Conduct research toward more extensive utilization of existing software applications.

18. Research and resolve software problems submitted to IT.

19. Responsible for formal project plan development, scope of work definitions, change management and process documentation for all development activities.

20. Identify and recommend ways to continuously streamline or improve the work process and/or the work environment.

21. Perform routine maintenance on files, as appropriate.

22. Design and development of processes, reports and/or sub-systems to provide information access, automation or processing efficiency in support of business objectives.

23. Interacts with other credit union departments to develop business case or processing requirements needed for to meet client requests.

24. Occasional availability for on-call/emergency support

Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Participates in special assignments and performs other related duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor degree with emphasis in business administration and/or computer science or equivalent IT application development or integration experience required
  • Five years experience with financial institutions, preferably credit unions
  • Two to four years experience with systems analysis/programming activities in financial services or related business environment
  • Extensive knowledge of advanced RepGens (Power-Ons) development methodologies. HTML, Javascript, Java, SQL scripting, VB, C#, ASP.NET
  • Experience with Symitar EPISYS software or equivalent credit union software. Proficient in Symitar file structure, Symconnect/SymXchange
  • Experience with the IBM AIX Unix servers with the following subsystems:
    • Command line or GUI editor utility (VI, other third party UNIX shell editor)
    • Output Queue and OS management utilities for AIX environment
    • Job Queue and File management utilities (OpCon, Move-It, etc.)
  • Requires a thorough understanding of database management concepts with a working knowledge of specific databases relating to EPISYS and other credit union related database systems

Qualifications Preferred:

 Experience with Synergy Document Management

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Typical indoor office environment. Must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time in a sitting position. Must be able to frequently reach, stand and move about inside the office to access computers, equipment, cabinets, etc. Requires occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing/pulling, and lifting and/or carrying of 50 or more pounds. Requires continuous communication to others and exchanging of information, as well as, continuous repetitive use of hand/fingers. Must be able to continuously think analytically, concentrate on tasks and remember names and/or details. Requires frequent use of written communication, as well as, handling of handle stress and/or emotions. Must participate in IT on call rotation.
