Salary:Pay Grade C
Days: Five days a week-Monday through Friday with some Saturdays; 40 hours per week
Hours:Branches are open: M-W: 9-5, TH: 9-6, F: 9-6, Sat: 9-1, Sun: closed.


Position Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Northland Area Federal Credit Union in living out its Service Mission, “To be our members’ most trusted financial partner,” by delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members. A key element of excellent service is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. In addition, perform limited transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high degree of accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with established credit union policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver service to both internal and external members that are in alignment with the credit union’s Service Promises:
  2. Meets all sales goals as established
  3. Meets all established service goals as measured by Member Shoppers

  4. Assist staff or members in solving complex account problems

  5. Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner

  6. Assist with mail deposits, when available

  7. Process member transactions to include deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, loan payments, etc. 

  8. Research and resolve account related discrepancies; Report any discrepancies to the manager as necessary; May provide assistance with other front line staff performing this same task

  9. Open new accounts and service existing accounts. Set up new account files, issue certificates, handle IRA transactions, and provide members with all necessary information required for membership

  10. Conduct orientation interviews on credit union services and programs with each new credit union member

  11. Interview, process and close loan requests

  12. Aggressively promotes and sells by utilizing the CUNA Mutual Lender Development Program to Credit Union members; Responsible for promoting Credit Life and Credit Disability Insurance, underwritten by CUNA Mutual Insurance Society, sales to Credit Union members


Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Additional Desired Attributes:

Previous credit union, financial institution, cash handling, member service, sales or related experience.


The successful candidate will have a professional approach in dealing with others, work well in a team environment, as well as, display excellent communication skills. This position requires a member-focused, service-oriented and positive attitude. Must demonstrate consistent accuracy and efficiency, as well as, strong attention to detail. Must be able to educate members on credit union products/ services and use sound judgement. Requires strict adherence to confidentiality and protecting member sensitive data. Strong personal computer skills required. This position requires basic mathematical comprehension and proficiency in 10-key entry.

Misc Comments:

Typical indoor office work environment with continuous standing in a stationary position required. Must be able to also occasionally sit in a stationary position, reach, push, pull, lift/carry up to 50 pounds and move about/traverse inside the branch. Must be able to continuously communicate to others and exchange information, as well as, continuous repetitive use of hand/fingers, such as keyboard typing, counting cash, using office equipment, etc. Must be able to continuously think analytically, concentrate on tasks, and remember names and/or details. Requires frequent handling of stress and emotions; and occasional use of written communication.
