Hours:Branches are open: M-W 9-5, TH-F 9-6, Sat 9-1, Sun closed


Position Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Northland Area Federal Credit Union in living out its Service Mission, “To be our members’ most trusted financial partner.” One of the primary means to achieve this end is to develop a highly effective team of employees and develop each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members. A key component of this service is to identify the financial needs of the member and recommend an appropriate credit union solution. Additionally, Branch Managers will assume responsibility for the oversight of all operational functions of the branch, which includes the credit union’s physical property.

  1. Lead by example by consistently upholding the Credit Union’s mission, goals, policies, standards and procedures in a professional manner

  2. Continually develop each employee to their highest potential by appropriately evaluating, coaching, training, recognizing those that perform at a high level and/or correcting the employees’ performance

  3. Hold employees accountable for performance standards and conduct

  4. Maintains a highly motivated, well-trained staff using effective employee relations

  5. Ensure that the branch meets established sales and service goals

  6. Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives

  7. Direct, schedule, coordinate and monitor activities at the branch to ensure quality of work and compliance with established bylaws, regulations, policies, established internal and external service standards and procedures

  8. Responsible for cultivating community awareness and generating new business and referrals

  9. Demonstrates a commitment to community involvement by participating in various community organizations and events to strengthen relationships within the communities served by the Credit Union

  10. Effective and efficient management of a branch including member deposit, loan and relationship growth and strong member satisfaction and loyalty

  11. Responsible for promoting and selling Credit Life and Credit Disability Insurance by utilizing the CUNA Mutual Lender Development Program to Credit Union members. Must obtain Resident Insurance Producer License within 12 months of acquiring position.

  12. Must ensure that CUNA Mutual Lender Development Program participants meet the branch goal and ensure that staff meets their individual goals for both Credit Life and Disability Insurance for the 12-month performance period

  13. Conduct loan interviews, process and close loan requests; conduct new account orientation, process and open new account, and service existing account relationships

  14. Perform back-up duties and responsibilities of subordinates

  15. Continually monitor all security measures for branch office and ensure that safeguards are followed properly at all times

  16. Monitor and report building maintenance, repairs and janitorial services needed.

    Participates in special assignments and performs other related duties as assigned.


Associate’s degree in business management, or comparable relevant work experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

State of Michigan Credit Insurance Producer License obtained within 12 months of acquiring position.

Additional Desired Attributes:

Four or more years of experience working in credit unions, banking, financial institutions, management or other related experience.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing employees and meeting goals. Requires a professional approach in dealing with problems, members and staff, as well as, excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires flexibility to travel and the ability to make effective decisions, as well as, possess strong administrative, management and supervision skills. Must be highly motivated to maintain a high performing service culture, as well as meet established goals.

Misc Comments:

Typical indoor office environment with occasional travel and driving away from the branch for training, community involvement and outreach, etc. Must be able to frequently remain in either a sitting or standing position and occasionally move about/traverse inside the branch. Requires occasional bending, reaching and lifting/carrying of 50 pounds or less. Must be able to continuously communicate to others and exchange information. Requires repetitive use of hand/fingers, such as keyboard typing, counting cash, using office equipment, etc. Must be able to continuously think analytically, concentrate on tasks and remember names and/or details.
